Praśna (horary astrology) is a branch of Vedic astrology in which a chart is drawn for the exact moment a sincere question is asked, and the answer is read from that chart rather than from a birth chart. The underlying principle is that the moment of sincere inquiry contains cosmic information relevant to the matter at hand. Praśna does not require the querent's birth details — in some systems (like Prashna Marga), only the positions of planets at the time of the question are used. It is particularly useful for lost item recovery, missing persons, timing of events, and specific life queries. Kerala traditions have especially rich Praśna literature.
