In this tradition of numerology, a plane is a three-number line within the Lo Shu grid. Horizontal planes are traditionally associated with mental, emotional, and practical qualities, while vertical planes may suggest a progression from thought through will to action. The two diagonals are also treated as significant combinations.

Horizontal planes

4-9-2: Mental plane

The 4-9-2 line is traditionally associated with mindset, attitude, logic, analysis, and memory. A complete mental plane may indicate a logical or analytical tendency and can suggest an inclination toward scientific, technical, or structured thinking. A strongly emphasized mental plane may also suggest increasing mental firmness and comparatively less emotional decision-making.

3-5-7: Emotional plane

The 3-5-7 line is traditionally associated with emotional orientation. Its completion may indicate sincerity, seriousness, peaceful handling of situations, or interest in spiritual and religious ideas. In some chart readings, the appearance of 7 through a pinnacle period may be treated as completing this plane and activating its themes.

8-1-6: Practical or prosperity plane

The 8-1-6 line is often read as the practical plane and is sometimes called the prosperity plane. It may indicate practical strength, attention to material progress, or a focus on financial matters. These associations describe tendencies and should not be treated as assurances of wealth or success.

Vertical planes

4-3-8: Thought plane

The 4-3-8 line is traditionally associated with thought process, planning, and the beginning of an idea. It may indicate focus on personal tasks and a tendency to consider or develop an idea before acting.

9-5-1: Will plane

The 9-5-1 line is traditionally associated with willpower. Its completion may suggest an ability to pursue understood tasks or studies through determination, although it does not assure achievement.

2-7-6: Action plane

The 2-7-6 line is traditionally associated with readiness for action, working capacity, and style of execution. It may suggest physical activity or an inclination toward pursuits such as sports, yoga, or other movement-based activities.

Diagonal planes

The 4-5-6 and 2-5-8 diagonals are traditionally described as fortunate or lucky planes. Their presence may be read as a supportive indication rather than a promise of favorable events. In the standard Lo Shu arrangement, each complete row, column, or diagonal totals 15, producing eight lines that can be considered during interpretation.

Reading the sequence

Thought, will, and action are often treated as a connected sequence: an idea may arise through the thought plane, motivation may develop through the will plane, and implementation may be expressed through the action plane. Traditionally, each plane is considered alongside the rest of the grid rather than as an isolated prediction.
