Overview

In this tradition of Jyotish and Vastu, color may be used as a symbolic, non-structural adjustment when rebuilding or relocating an element is impractical. Paint, wallpaper, lighting, curtains, furniture covers, borders, mats, stone surfaces, and decorative objects may provide ways to introduce the selected color. Any choice is traditionally adapted to the zone, existing structure, individual circumstances, age, and life phase.

Directional applications

North and north-east

Off-white is often preferred for the north-east, while light blue or the light green of young leaves may also be considered. Similar shades may be applied to an east-north-east washroom and its interior objects. For a fixed cupboard in the north or north-east, a white or blue border may serve as a limited correction, especially when the existing exterior is dark maroon or chocolate.

East and south-facing kitchens

For a kitchen in an east or water-related zone, green stone, green lighting, light green, blue, or white light may be considered. Red tends to be avoided in the water-related placement. When cooking while facing south, a green wall in front of the hob may be used through paint, tiles, or wallpaper.

South-west through west

A kitchen platform in the south-west, west-south-west, west, or the associated western sector may be given a yellow base. In a north-west kitchen, yellow or white may be considered for the platform, with yellow sometimes treated as the more practical option.

In the south-south-west, yellow, yellow light, brass, or added weight may be used as balancing measures. If blue toilet tiles cannot be replaced promptly, a yellow, golden, tape, or ribbon border may provide an interim symbolic adjustment while gradual replacement remains possible.

East-south-east

Peacock-feather colors combining blue and green may be used in the east-south-east area. A peacock feather, light wooden shade, or wooden decoration may also be considered according to the space. Such an item tends to be placed toward the outer portion of the relevant zone rather than near the central area of the property.

Object-specific adjustments

A black hob may be outlined with yellow as a kitchen color correction. For west-zone stairs, the first and last steps may be colored yellow or covered with yellow mats. Traditional stair assessment may also consider the colors of both the walking surface and the adjacent wall.

A damp or seepage patch may be temporarily marked with a yellow border to symbolically moderate its Vastu significance. This measure does not address moisture, plumbing, mold, or structural damage; appropriate inspection and physical repair remain necessary.

Planetary and numerological associations

Green is traditionally associated with Mercury-related remedies, although the appropriate method depends on the wider assessment. Yellow may be used in Jupiter-related practice through clothing or surroundings, yellow food, or a yellow sitting mat. In a Lo Shu interpretation involving a missing Jupiter indication, introducing Jupiter-associated color may be considered after examining the relevant placement.

Red may be considered in practices associated with Mars or a missing number nine. Examples may include red clothing, red objects, or a red thread worn on the right wrist. Sleeping with the head toward the south may also be included in this remedial approach.

Venus-related adjustments may emphasize pleasant fragrance, flowers, cleanliness, happiness, and lively colors. These qualities may be considered when a reading suggests a need to encourage engagement or activity, but the specific application depends on the person and context.

Practical limits

Color remedies are traditionally treated as supportive adjustments rather than complete solutions. Small, reversible changes may be used where major alterations are unavailable, but they do not replace repairs, hygiene, structural work, or qualified professional evaluation.
