Drekkāṇa (D3) is the third divisional chart, derived by dividing each zodiac sign into three equal parts of 10° each. The primary use is to assess matters of siblings (co-borns), courage, right arm strength, travels, and occult ability. In some traditions, it is also used to examine the nature of death (longevity analysis). The three decanates of each sign are governed by the signs of the same element (fire, earth, air, water): the first 10° by the sign itself, the second by the next sign of the same element, and the third by the remaining sign of that element. Parashara mentions specific drekkana deities that can be read as karmic past-life indicators.
