The seven mystic utterances (vyāhṛtis) representing the seven planes of existence: Bhūḥ (physical / earth plane), Bhuvaḥ (vital / atmospheric plane), Svaḥ (mental / celestial plane), Mahaḥ (plane of radiance), Janaḥ (plane of creative intelligence), Tapaḥ (plane of austerity), Satyam (plane of truth / ultimate reality). The first three (Bhūr Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ) are the primary vyāhṛtis used in most recitations.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः।
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि।
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥
Oṃ — We meditate upon the supreme light of the divine Savitṛ (the Solar Impeller), who pervades all three planes — the physical (bhūḥ), the vital-atmospheric (bhuvaḥ), and the celestial (svaḥ). That most adorable (vareṇyam) radiance (bhargaḥ) of the divine (devasya) — may it awaken and inspire our spiritual intelligence (dhiyaḥ).

आ कृष्णेन रजसा वर्तमानो
निवेशयन्नमृतं मर्त्यं च।
हिरण्ययेन सविता रथेन आ देवो याति भुवनानि पश्यन्॥
हिरण्ययेन सविता रथेन आ देवो याति भुवनानि पश्यन्॥
The divine Savitā, traversing the dark expanse (of space) in his golden chariot, simultaneously bestows rest upon the immortal (celestial beings) and the mortal (earthly beings). He, the god who sees all worlds, comes forth from all sides.

याति देवः प्रवतः सूर्यः
आयत्या भुवना पश्यन्।
समानमर्थं जनयन् देव निमेषं नो वासयन्नाशु॥
समानमर्थं जनयन् देव निमेषं नो वासयन्नाशु॥
The divine sun (Sūrya) moves swiftly, beholding the worlds as he approaches. O Divine One, generating the same purpose in all — you quickly settle us (to rest) at the twinkling of an eye.

त्रिर् आ दिवः सवितः सोम्यस्य
वसोर् विभक्तासि मन्दतु त्वा।
यो अस्य काम उत रत्नधेयेषु सः पूषणं पृणत्यव सर्वम्॥
यो अस्य काम उत रत्नधेयेषु सः पूषणं पृणत्यव सर्वम्॥
O Savitā, you are the three-fold distributor of wealth from heaven — may the soma-offering gladden you. Whoever comes to you with desire, asking for your gems and treasures, you, the nourisher (Pūṣan), satisfy all their desires completely.

आयत्यभिस्तुवन्ति।
सवितारं सुप्राव्यम्॥
सवितारं सुप्राव्यम्॥
The divine singers (ṛṣis) praise the god Savitā as he approaches, the easily invocable one who bestows great boons.

स सत्यसव ओजसा
वि भाति सवितः शुचिः।
व्यपां सनुतर् आ भरे॥
व्यपां सनुतर् आ भरे॥
He, Savitā, the true impeller, brilliant and pure, shines forth with power. He stretches forth his arms (of light) far beyond the waters.

स नो रासत विश्वशंभुवः
सविता स्तोत्रे दिवि श्रवसे।
धत्त रत्नमिषं यशः॥
धत्त रत्नमिषं यशः॥
May Savitā, the benefactor of all, grant us (the gift of) celestial fame through this hymn of praise. Bestow upon us the jewel of food (sustenance) and glory.

युञ्जन्ति ब्रध्नमरुषं चरन्तं
परि तस्थुषः।
रोचन्ते रोचना दिवि॥
रोचन्ते रोचना दिवि॥
They yoke the brilliant, red-brown (horse of Savitṛ) as it moves across the sky. The lights of the sun shine in the heavens.

युञ्जन्त्यस्य काम्या
हरितः शतयुज्यः।
परि भुवनानि विश्वा॥
परि भुवनानि विश्वा॥
His lovely, tawny (gold-green) mares — yoked by the hundred — carry him around all the worlds.

तत्सवितुर्वृणीमहे
वयं देवस्य भोजनम्।
श्रेष्ठं सर्वधातमं तुरं भगस्य धीमहि॥
श्रेष्ठं सर्वधातमं तुरं भगस्य धीमहि॥
We choose that nourishment of the divine Savitā — the most excellent, most all-sustaining gift — we meditate upon the swiftly-arriving grace of Bhaga (the deity of fortune who is Savitā's aspect).

सविता यन्त्रैः पृथिवीमरम्णात्
आस्कम्भने सवितारं दिविष्टौ।
अश्वमिव अधुक्षद् धुनिमन्तरिक्षम् महाँ अर्णवः।
सविता तद्विवेद॥
अश्वमिव अधुक्षद् धुनिमन्तरिक्षम् महाँ अर्णवः।
सविता तद्विवेद॥
Savitā steadied the earth with his mechanical support-arms at the point of support in the heavenly realm. Like a milker drawing milk from a horse, he drew out the dynamic atmosphere (the great ocean of sky). Savitā alone truly knows this (mystery).
