जय रघुनन्दन जय सियापति जय जग के आधार ।
कृपासिन्धु रघुवंशमणि दो भव से उद्धार ॥
Glory to Raghunandana, glory to Siyāpati, glory to the foundation of the world! O ocean of grace, jewel of the Raghu dynasty — carry us across the ocean of worldly existence.

जय श्री राम जय राम रघुराई ।
जगत-पालन कर दुख मिटाई ॥
राम नाम अरु नाम रसाना ।
सकल सुखन का है निदाना ॥
Glory to Sri Rama, glory to Rama the lord of the Raghu clan, who sustains the world and removes all suffering. The name of Rama and the savour of that name together are the very foundation of every blessing.

दशरथ नन्दन रघुकुल भूषन ।
कौशल्या के प्राण पोषन ॥
अवध नगर में जन्म लियो जब ।
तीनों लोक हरषित हुए तब ॥
Joy of Dasharatha, ornament of the Raghu lineage, the life and breath of Kausalyā — when he took birth in the city of Avadh, all three worlds erupted in jubilation.

श्याम वदन सरसीज नयन ।
मेघ-वर्ण मन-मोहन-गयन ॥
बाल-रूप की छवि अति प्यारी ।
नाथ करो हम पर जग-दुलारी ॥
Dark-complexioned, lotus-eyed, his form rain-cloud blue and heart-stealing — the beauty of his childhood was endlessly enchanting. O Lord, may that beloved form of the world shine its grace upon us.

राम नाम जग महिमा भारी ।
शिव सदा जपत रहत मुरारी ॥
जो नर जपत राम को नामा ।
पावत जीव परम बिश्रामा ॥
The glory of Rama's name in the world is immense — Shiva ever chants it, and so does Murari. Whoever repeats the name of Rama finds in the self the supreme peace and resting place.

विश्वामित्र लिए वन धाए ।
यज्ञ राखन को पहुँचे जाए ॥
ताड़का असुरी मार गिराई ।
सुबाहु मारीच को दिया दुख भाई ॥
Answering Vishwamitra's call, Rama hastened to the forest to protect the sacred yagna. He slew the demoness Tadaka and afflicted Subahu and Maricha, driving away the demon menace.

जनकपुरी में पहुँचे रामा ।
धनुष तोड़ सीता पाई वामा ॥
विवाह मंगल सबने गाया ।
राम-जानकी जोड़ा आया ॥
Rama arrived at Janakpur and broke the great bow, winning Sita as his bride. All sang the wedding blessings — the divine pairing of Rama and Janaki had come to pass.

सीता जग में जनक-दुलारी ।
पतिव्रता की परम उजयारी ॥
राम सँग वन-वन ठौर डुलायो ।
पति-धर्म को सच्चा निभायो ॥
Sita, the pride of Janaka's household and the supreme light of wifely devotion — she wandered forest after forest alongside Rama, living true to the sacred bond of marriage.

कैकेई के वरदान से भारी ।
राम को वन की आज्ञा भारी ॥
पिता वचन मान लियो शिर धारी ।
धर्म मार्ग को रखा जारी ॥
By the weight of Kaikeyi's boon, Rama received the command to go into exile. He accepted his father's word with bowed head and upheld the path of righteousness without a moment's wavering.

अवध छोड़ वन को चल दीने ।
सँग लखन सिया मन मेले हीने ॥
नगर जन रोय रोय पछितावे ।
राम बिना जग सूना भावे ॥
Leaving Avadh behind, Rama set forth into the forest with Lakshmana and Sita, their hearts filled with serene renunciation. The city's people wept and wept — without Rama the world felt empty.

गंगा तट पर आए रघुराई ।
निषाद-राज ने सेवा पाई ॥
नाव चढ़ गंगा पार किए पग ।
चल दिए आगे बिना लाग-बाग ॥
Rama the Lord of the Raghu clan reached the Ganges, where the Nishadraj served him with devotion. He boarded the boat, crossed the sacred river, and continued onward without pause or attachment.

चित्रकूट पर डेरा डाला ।
वन में रहे आनन्द निराला ॥
भरत भाई आए पद धोने ।
राम चरण में रोए रोए ॥
They pitched their hermitage at Chitrakoot and lived there in the forest with a rare and undisturbed contentment. Brother Bharata came to wash Rama's feet and wept — wept — at those lotus feet.

भरत चरण लखि पादुका लीन्हीं ।
नन्दीग्राम वास की रीत दीन्हीं ॥
भ्रातृ-भक्ति की अदभुत रचाई ।
राम-वियोग दशा अकुलाई ॥
Bharata took Rama's sandals and, placing them as the symbol of the throne at Nandigrama, established a vigil there. This unparalleled brotherly devotion stood as a witness to his anguish of separation from Rama.

दण्डक वन में मुनि-आश्रम आए ।
ऋषियों के दुःख दूर कराए ॥
अगस्त्य मुनि से आशीष लीन्हो ।
दिव्य धनुष-बाण हाथ दीन्हो ॥
Entering the Dandaka forest, Rama visited the sages' hermitages and relieved the rishis' suffering. He received the blessings of sage Agastya and was given a divine bow and quiver of arrows.

शूर्पणखा दुर्मति मदमाती ।
लखन ने दण्ड दियो बड़ भारी ॥
रावण सुनि क्रोधित अति भाई ।
मारीच को भेजा छलकाई ॥
The deluded and arrogant Surpanakha came in her deceit; Lakshmana punished her as she deserved. Hearing of this, Ravana burned with rage and dispatched Maricha to carry out his scheme of treachery.

मारीच माया-मृग बना आया ।
राम धनुष ले पीछे धाया ॥
रावण ने साधुवेश धरि छल से ।
जानकी हरीं गिद्ध जटायु से ॥
Maricha came as a magical golden deer to lure Rama away; Rama gave chase with his bow. Ravana, robed as a monk, entered by deceit and abducted Janaki — with the eagle Jatayu fighting valiantly to stop him.

जटायु ने रावण से लड़ाई ।
प्राण-बलि दे राम-सेवा कराई ॥
राम ने पितृवत् उद्धार दिया ।
पक्षिराज की मुक्ति किया ॥
Jatayu fought Ravana and offered his very life in Rama's service. Rama mourned him as a father and granted him liberation — the glory of Jatayu the eagle-king is sung through all the worlds.

शबरी के बेर हाथों खाए ।
भक्ति-प्रेम को परखते आए ॥
ऊँच-नीच का भेद मिटाया ।
निष्काम भक्ति का पाठ सिखाया ॥
Rama ate Shabari's half-bitten berries from her devoted hands, coming to test the depth of love. He dissolved the distinction of high and low and taught the lesson of selfless, unconditional devotion.

ऋष्यमूक पर राम सिधाए ।
हनुमत-जी से मेल मिलाए ॥
भक्त-भगवान सुखद मिलना ।
राम-कार्य आगे चल चलना ॥
Rama arrived at Rishyamuk mountain and met Hanuman. This meeting of devotee and God was joyous and auspicious — the path of Rama's mission lay open ahead.

बाली-वध किया राम रघुराई ।
सुग्रीव को राजगद्दी दिलाई ॥
वानर-सेना जुटाई भारी ।
सीता खोज को चले पहारी ॥
Rama slew Bali and gave the throne to Sugriva. A great army of vanaras was assembled and sent through mountain passes in search of Sita.

हनुमान लंका को धाए ।
जानकी माँ का पता पाए ॥
राम-अंगूठी दिखाई तब वहाँ ।
सीता को धीर मिला तहाँ ॥
Hanuman raced to Lanka and found Janaki's whereabouts. He showed Sita Rama's signet ring — and there, in that moment, Sita found courage and comfort.

लंका दहन हनुमान किया ।
राक्षस-दल को भय दिया ॥
राम-काज का फल भया ।
सुखद समाचार लेकर आया ॥
Hanuman set Lanka ablaze and brought terror to the demon host — completing Rama's mission, he returned bearing joyful news to his lord.

सेतु-बन्धन का कार्य किया ।
नल-नील ने पाहन तरिया ॥
सागर पार कर राम धाए ।
लंका-युद्ध को चले आए ॥
The great bridge was built — Nala and Nila floated the stones across the sea. Rama crossed the ocean with his forces and marched onward to the battle at Lanka.

कुम्भकर्ण अरु मेघनाद मारे ।
राक्षस-सेना के हाथ-पाँव हारे ॥
एक-एक वीर रण में काटे ।
रावण के सब सेनापति छाँटे ॥
Kumbhakarna and Meghnada were slain; the demon army's strength was broken one by one — every champion was cut down on the battlefield and all of Ravana's generals fell.

दशकन्धर को बाण लगाए ।
रावण-दल को धूल चटाए ॥
धर्म की जय और अधर्म के हारे ।
राम-विजय की जय जयकारे ॥
Rama rained arrows upon the ten-headed Ravana and brought the demon host to dust. Dharma triumphed and adharma fell — the victory cry of Rama rang out through all the worlds.

सीता माँ को मुक्त कराया ।
पुष्पक विमान में साथ लाया ॥
विभीषण को लंका का राजा ।
राम-कृपा से मिटा सब काजा ॥
Sita was liberated and brought home in the Pushpaka vimana. Vibhishana was crowned king of Lanka — by Rama's grace every purpose was fulfilled.

अयोध्या में राम पधारे ।
दीप जलाए लोक सवारे ॥
राज-तिलक की शोभा छाई ।
जय जय राम की ध्वनि जाई ॥
Rama returned to Ayodhya and the people lit lamps and adorned the city. The royal coronation shone with splendour — the joyous cry of 'Victory to Rama' filled the air.

रामराज में सुख समाया ।
प्रजा का दुःख सब बिसराया ॥
न कोई भूखा न कोई प्यासा ।
सबके मन में राम का वासा ॥
In Ramarajya happiness pervaded everywhere — the people's sorrows were all forgotten. No one hungry, no one thirsty — in every heart, Rama had found his home.

राम गुण का कोई अन्त नाही ।
वेद पुराण जपत हैं माही ॥
जो जो राम के गुण गाए ।
भव-बन्धन से मुक्त हो जाए ॥
There is no end to the qualities of Rama — the Vedas and Puranas chant his praise without cease. Whoever sings of Rama's virtues is freed from the bonds of worldly existence.

राम भगवान रूप मनोहर ।
मन मोहत बिन आडम्बर ॥
शरणागत के काज सँवारे ।
दुःख हरत भव-भय से तारे ॥
Rama the God is beautiful and captivating — he steals the heart without artifice or pomp. He fulfills the needs of those who seek his shelter, removing suffering and carrying them across the fear of worldly existence.

संकट में राम को जो पुकारे ।
भक्त के दुख तुरत निवारे ॥
राम-नाम का जप जो करई ।
सब बाधाएँ झट दूर हरई ॥
Whoever calls upon Rama in the hour of crisis — Rama at once removes that devotee's suffering. Whoever keeps up the japa of Rama's name, all obstacles dissolve before them in an instant.

हनुमान राम के प्रिय सेवक ।
दोनों की जोड़ी जगत में अनेक ॥
हनुमत की भक्ति राम को भाई ।
राम-भक्ति से परम सिद्धि पाई ॥
Hanuman is Rama's most beloved servant — their pairing is celebrated and praised throughout the world. Hanuman's devotion pleased Rama deeply; through devotion to Rama, the supreme perfection is attained.

राम करुणा के सागर भारी ।
दीन-दुखी के हैं हितकारी ॥
जो शरण में आकर सीस नवाएँ ।
राम उन्हें निश्चित उठाएँ ॥
Rama is a vast ocean of compassion — the supreme benefactor of the poor and the suffering. Those who come to his shelter and bow their heads — Rama assuredly lifts them up.

छोटे-बड़े का भेद न राखे ।
शबरी केवट सबको देखे ॥
भक्त-वत्सल अरु प्रजा-पालक ।
ऐसे हैं राम जग-पालक ॥
Rama makes no distinction between high and low — he sees Shabari and the boatman Kevata as equals before him. Cherisher of devotees and protector of the people — such is Rama, the guardian of the world.

राम-भक्ति में मन लगाओ ।
जन्म-जन्म के पाप मिटाओ ॥
नाम जप से मोक्ष मिलाई ।
परम शान्ति पावे मतवाई ॥
Fix the mind in devotion to Rama and dissolve the sins of countless lifetimes. From the japa of Rama's name comes liberation — the restless heart finds supreme peace.

राम-नाम औषधि सब रोगन ।
पाप-त्रय का करत निर्मोगन ॥
जो नर नित राम-नाम जपावे ।
काल-व्याल से मुक्त हो जावे ॥
Rama's name is medicine for every ailment — it eradicates the threefold sin at its root. Whoever chants Rama's name daily is freed from the coils of the serpent of death.

ब्रह्मा विष्णु महेश तीनों ।
राम-महिमा जपत अधीनों ॥
शेषनाग जपते राम-नामा ।
सबका आधार श्रीराम धामा ॥
Even Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh — the three great gods — chant the glory of Rama in devotion. Shesha-naga ever repeats Rama's name — Sri Rama's abode is the foundation of all.

हे रघुपति मोरी सुनो अरजाई ।
भवसागर से पार लगाई ॥
चरण-कमल में शरण दिजो ।
निज भक्ति का दान दिजो ॥
O Raghupati, hear my supplication — carry me across the ocean of worldly existence. Grant me refuge at your lotus feet; give me the gift of devotion to you alone.

जन्म-मरण के फेर छुड़ाओ ।
मन वचन कर्म से राम मिलाओ ॥
मोह-ममता की गाँठ खुलाओ ।
परम-पद की राह सुझाओ ॥
Free me from the cycle of birth and death — through thought, word, and deed, let me find union with Rama. Untie the knot of delusion and attachment — reveal to me the path to the supreme state.

यह चालीसा भक्त ने गाया ।
राम-चरण में मन को लगाया ॥
जो जन ध्यान धरे यह पड़हीं ।
राम-कृपा नित्य उन पर रहीं ॥
This chalisa was sung by a devotee, fixing the mind at Rama's feet. Whoever holds it in contemplation and recites it — on them Rama's grace rests always.

नित नेम उठि राम को ध्यावे ।
हृदय-कमल में राम समावे ॥
जो यह पाठ करे मन लाई ।
राम-कृपा पल में फलि जाई ॥
Rising each morning with steady devotion, meditate on Rama — let Rama fill the lotus of your heart. Whoever reads this text with wholehearted attention — Rama's grace bears instant fruit.

राम चालीसा जो पढ़े प्रतिदिन प्रेम लगाय ।
राम-कृपा का पात्र बन निश्चय परम पद पाय ॥
Whoever reads the Ram Chalisa daily with sincere love becomes a vessel worthy of Rama's grace and assuredly attains the supreme state.
